Melk lies, with its 5300 inhabitants, on the banks of the Danube and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Benedictine Abbey of Melk is without question the most important sight in Melk. Worth a visit are the historic monuments.

Vienna's City Hall with its Gothic style of architecture is a main feature of the city and plays host to many events, and also provides the perfect backdrop for the famous Christmas markets.
