Panama is the capital of the State of Panama in Central America. Panama doesn't just have cultural significance, it is also the economic and political center of the Panama region. The famous Panama Canal is one of the main attractions along with the presidential palace and the old town quarter of Casco Viejo.
The Panama Canal connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans together. Since the canals opening in 1914, this channel has become one of the most important waterways in the world, earning itself the title of one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Cartagena was founded in 1533 and is located on the Caribbean coast in northern Colombia. The walled Old Town boasts some of the most beautiful colonial architecture in South America with cobblestones and colourful facades.
