The city of Fort Lauderdale in the U.S. state of Florida and makes an ideal holiday destination. Due to the many canals in the city, Fort Lauderdale is also known as the American Venice. In the 1970's, the area was very popular with students celebrating Spring Break but these were replaced by cruise vacationers in recent years. Fort Lauderdale offers beautiful beaches, museums, the world's biggest everyday flea market and also the world's largest drive-in cinema, which has 13 screens.

Key West is located on Key West Island at the western end of the Florida Keys. Visitors especially enjoy the azure blue sea and white sand beaches. For divers and snorkelers, the underwater snorkeling park is a must. At Mallory Square and Duval Street you will find many shops and restaurants - try the Key Lime Pie, a cake with the unique taste of Key lime.

The Mexican island of Cozumel, located in the Caribbean off the coast of the Yucatan peninsula, has a rich ancient history. Even today, visitors from all over the world flock to the island to observe the religious centre and temples that the Maya peoples built on the island centuries ago. Cozumel is also famous for its diving opportunities: Visitors can dive around beautiful coral reefs or to the Underwater Museum of Art.

The Central American port town of Belize City is divided into two halves by the Haulover Creek, which can be crossed via the manually operated Swing Bridge. In the northern half of the city, tourists can learn about the county's history at the Museum of Belize. The south side boasts colonial buildings, such as Saint John's Cathedral and the wooden Government House from the nineteenth century.

The port town on Jamaica's northwest coast is the second largest city in the country and mixes the old and new. The largest beaches Doctor's Cave and McCatty offer wonderful views and a great place to relax. One of the attractions is Rose Hall, a restored manor house on a sugar plantation, built in 1760.

Of the British-owned Cayman Islands in the Caribbean Sea, Grand Cayman is the largest. The largest city as well as capital of the Cayman Islands is George Town, where visitors would find Cayman Islands National Museum, featuring exhibitions on the islands' heritage and history. The highlight of Grand Cayman is the Seven Mile Beach, which earned its coral beach fame from the 1993 film The Firm.

The small private island Half Moon Cay has already been awarded several awards as the best private island in the Bahamas. You can explore the island, for example, on the back of a horse. Moreover, this small piece of land offers many other activities such as windsurfing and watersports, the water park or a walk along white sand beaches.
