Reykjavik, with a population of approximately 120,00 may not be the biggest European capital, but it is widely regarded as an exciting destination and Icelands cultural and economic center, having been established as a city in the 18th century. Narvik is located north of the Arctic Circle and is an important port for the shipment of iron ore from Sweden. Due to the Gulf Stream, the Norwegian port of Narvik is ice-free all year round.
