Itinerary

As the seat of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the European Court; Strasbourg is one of the most important centers of the European Union. The French city is located near the border with Germany, therefore much German influence can be seen throughout, particularly through the architecture of the city. Of particular interest is the Old Town, which is a World Heritage site, and the Cathedral Square, one of Europe's most beautiful city squares. Due to the numerous channels that meander through the city and the picturesque half-timbered houses, the city offers a unique charm to visitors.

The city of Mainz offers a variety of charming places in the midst of old half-timbered houses and historic churches. Mainz has a history of 2000 years, that is reflected in the Roman Temple, the mansions, the cathedral and Marc Chagall's blue windows. Enjoy not only the flavor of the city, but also a glass of the famous wine from the region.

Miltenberg is a town in Lower Franconia, Bavaria. The town developed around the former town of Miltenburg which was built in the 13th century. In the historic old town, there are numerous well-perserved half-timbered houses to be admired. Also worth seeing are the Riesen hotel, which is known as one of the oldest inns in Germany and the historic "Schnatterloch" market place through which the hiking trail of Nibelungensteig passes.

The town of Wertheim in Baden-Württemberg is located at Main and borders on Bavaria. The Wertheim and the courtyard garden as well as a variety of religious buildings will keep you entertained while in Wertheim.

Schweinfurt is an industrial town in northern Bavaria. With the motto "Art and Industry", the town attracts many visitors. In addition to theaters, there are also several museums to be found in the city, such as the Museum Georg Schäfer.

Bamberg is an economic center of Upper Franconia located in the state of Bayern. Since 1993, the historic city center of Bamberg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest intact preserved city center in Germany. The city is known for its longstanding tradition of producing beer as well as the quaint buildings dotted along the riverside. Some of the most picturesque buildings include the Altes Rathaus or town hall and the Bamberger Dom. For a spectacular view of the red-bricked houses from above, take a walk or the city bus to St. Michael's Monastery. Bamberg is the cheerful little town that has stepped right out of a fairy-tale.

Mühlhausen is a city in Thuringia, Germany. It is known as the city of gates and churches. Its architectural diversity provides evidence of the economic and cultural importance the former imperial free-city (Reichsstadt) once had, as does the city itself with its well-preserved, fully accessible city wall.

Passau, the 'City of Three Rivers' lies at the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz on the border with Austria. Attractions include several buildings from centuries past, the House of Lords situated on a hill and the Castle Museum Freudenhain.

Melk lies, with its 5300 inhabitants, on the banks of the Danube and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Benedictine Abbey of Melk is without question the most important sight in Melk. Worth a visit are the historic monuments.

Vienna, can be described as being grand and elegant, while still managing to radiate a vibe that is both modern and contemporary. Vienna's City Hall with its Gothic style of architecture is a main feature of the city and plays host to many events, and also provides the perfect backdrop for the famous Christmas markets. Cafés have always been a key feature of Viennese culture, with numerous cafés such as the historic Café Central, which has links to notable writers, being a popular spot for tourists.
