The idyllic island of Santa Catalina is located in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of California. The island is accessible by boat, ferry and by helicopter. The island enjoys a slow pace of life, with many white sandy beaches. Golf carts are a popular mode of transport when travelling throughout the island. The town of Avalon is the biggest town on the island and offers a beautiful promenade. Much of the island of Catalina is maintained as part of the Catalina Island Conservacy, visitors can take part in guided hikes and Eco Jeeps tours.

San Francisco is an American city located along the coast of Northern California. San Francisco offers a hilly landscape, complete with cable cars which connect some of the hills and offer panoramic views during the crossing. Many of the buildings in San Francisco are known for their Victorian-style of architecture, while the stand-out landmark for many is the impressive Golden Gate bridge. which is open to pedestrians between 5 am and 6 pm. Visit Wave Organ for views of the notorious Alcatraz Island and listen out as the sea 'plays' the organs every time the waves come crashing in.

Astoria is located in the North of the U.S state of Oregon, along the Pacific coast. The port city has an approximate population of about 10,000. The Columbia River Maritime Museum is a very popular attraction and offers a colourful insight into the importance of the Columbia River. The Astoria Column is also a locally-renowned landmark, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy stunnning views, particularly of the River Columbia from Coxcomb Hill. The Astoria-Megler Bridge is also a popular symbol of Oregon.

Victoria, the provincial capital of British Columbia on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, impresses with European flair, narrow streets and Victorian architecture. Many of the buildings built before 1945 are listed buildings and the red double-decker buses for city tours are reminders of the British Empire. Not to be missed are the Parliament Building, the Fairmont Empress and the Royal British Columbia Museum. The tearooms, antique shops and galleries are all sure to impress and the abundance of cycling routes make the city easy to navigate.
