Itinerary

Maizuru is a Japanese city founded in 1943. It is located in the north of Kyoto Prefecture, on the coast of the Sea of Japan.

Sakaiminato, which lies at the northern end of the peninsula and Yumigahama, is a city in the Tottori Prefecture in Japan.

South Korea's second largest city, is a modern port town with skyscrapers and beaches, while the city is also surrounded by towering mountain peaks. Seoul may be the capital but Busan is an energetic city with a soul of its own. Fresh seafood is a city staple as there are sprawling markets offering locals the freshest variety of produce. The city also has numerous trendy nightclubs for partying after a day spent exploring or laying on Haeundae Beach, while October welcomes the Busan International Film Festival.

Nagasaki is located on the third-largest Japanese island of Kyushu on the south-west coast. The city became well known in 1945 when it suffered a nuclear bombing. The city is home to a range of museums, one of which is the atomic bomb museum which commemorates the city's past.

The Japanese seaside city of Kagoshima lies in a bay on the southwestern tip of the island. The city is sunny and friendly, it has even been voted Japan's friendliest. The very active Sakurajima volcano that sits across the bay is one of the city's main attractions. The local weather report has a special section for an 'ash forecast' as it falls regularly, coating everything, including cars, laundry and teeth. Kagoshima is often nicknamed 'Naples of the Eastern World' for its volcano and tropical climate.

Uwajima is a city located in Ehime Prefecture, Japan. Uwajima has a Date Family Museum which features many historically important objects tied to the history of the region and the Daimyo family Date which ruled this area. Uwajima Castle is also worth a visit. Uwajima is home to an unusual fertility shrine called Taga Shrine- Every July a festival is held in Uwajima known as the Uwajima Ushi-oni Festival, "Gaiya Festival," or the "Warei Shrine Festival." Among the festivities are ushioni teams parading down the street, a dance contest to the town song known as the "Gaiya" dance, traditional dancing, and a bullfight.

In Hiroshima, due to the Second World War, the are many war monuments and memorials such as the Peace Park, the Peace Tower, and a peace museum. The original Hiroshima Castle (called Carp Castle),was destroyed in 1945 by the atomic bombing. However, it was reconstructed in the 50's and now houses a museum of the history of Hiroshima before World War II.

An island near Hiroshima, the names “Miyajima” and “Itsukushima” can be used interchangeably, and both are commonly used. One of Japan’s more popular spots for tourism, the island is a Unesco World Heritage site, due to it being home to the Itsukushima Shrine. In autumn, the island’s hillsides are awash with beautiful foliage - colorful cherry blossoms and maple leaves. A rural settlement, the island has a complete absence of traffic signals, and the small population of locals take the preservation of their home’s natural environment very seriously.

Tamano is a small Japanese seaside city with a population of around 60,000 and is home to one of Japan's major shipbuilding yards. The city is known for its beautiful natural sights such as Miyama Park and Mt Ojigatake, and its traditional Japanese architecture. Tamano is only an hour bus journey from the major city of Osaka.

The Japanese ability to mix a fast-paced world with a world of tranquility and refined ceremonies can be seen to its full effect in Osaka. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of Japan’s third-largest city before taking part in a traditional tea ceremony.
