Martigues, France is located about 30 kilometers south of Marseille. The city port is located on the Rhone river and used to be called Maritima in ancient times. However, nowadays it's flatteringly known as the "Venice of Provence".
Port Saint Louis du Rhone is a commune in the south of France. It is an industrial town and port annex of Marseille at the mouth of the Rhone River. It is the main southern route in and out of inland France, including Lyon and beyond to the Rhine, Germany and Holland.
The famous french city of Avignon in the south of France, is located in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. Avignon is known for having a Mediterranean charm. The impressive Palais des Papes, was the former seat of the Pope and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site is a very popular attraction as is the UNESCO listed Pont Saint-Benezet bridge with its distnict arches which crosses the river Rhone. There is a vibrant art scene in Avignon, with many museums, in addition to the Festival D'Avignon, a well-known arts and culture festival held in the city.
Viviers is the capital of the Vivaris region, and is located along the banks of the Rhone. Viviers offers visitors a distinct medieval charm. The small streets of Viviers are lined with shops of many local merchants and craftsmen.The impressive Romanesque St. Vincent Cathedral is a popular tourist attraction of the area. Another nod to the history of the city is evident through the 'Pont Romain' otherwise known as the bridge of eleven arches. which crosses the Escoutay river. The location of Viviers means that visitors can benefit from a Mediterranean-style climate.
