Gustavia is a reminder of the past when the island of St. Barthelemy was leased to the Swedish, named after Swedish King Gustav and having characteristic red-roofed houses lining the tropical hills. There is plenty of oppurtunities to discover the history and culture of the island at the Wall House Museum or even just a trip to the lively Le Ti-Marché open-air market. One of the many quiet cafes give you a perfect place to enjoy the stunning views out into harbour.

The city boasts Creole architecture from the eighteenth century, and its Old Market, which vendors now flock to to sell their handicrafts and produce, is a former site for slave auctions. Visitors can immerse themselves in the nation's history at the Dominica Museum or see the local flora and fauna at the Dominica Botanical Gardens.

Bridgetown is the island's largest city and is a vibrant and historic cultural gem.
