Located in the Valparaiso Region, San Antonio is the busiest port on the western coast of South America. The main activities within this commune are fishing excursions and trips to the surrounding vineyards and national parks. Cruisers can also take the short trip to the larger cities of Santiago, Chile’s capital and largest city, or Valparaíso.

The port city of Puerto Montt has a breathtaking skyline with the Calbuco volcano sitting in the background. This volcano is one of the active volcanos in Chile however there has been no eruptions in recent years meaning cruisers can enjoy the city with no worries. The region around Puerto Montt is well worth a visit offering glacial lakes and mountainous national parks which can be visited on an excursion. Puerto Montt is well known for it’s cuisine and you should definitely visit the craft market in the harbour and enjoy the local seafood.

Puerto Chacabuco is a small port city in western Patagonia. The biggest local attraction is the National Park of Laguna San Rafael. Admire the unique nature, shaped by glaciers, fjords and volcanoes.

The Chilean Fjords are a unique and beautiful destination. Access via road and air are extremely tricky and therefore exploring them is a treat reserved mainly for cruise passengers. Largely left untouched by man, the Fjords are home to a wide array of fascinating wildlife. If you’ve always dreamt of whale watching then make sure to book your cruise for October. Cruise passengers have the huge advantage of being able to experience the rugged environment from the luxury of a ship. So no need to pack your gloves but just don’t forget your camera.

Near the Chilean fjords is the beautiful Sarmiento channel. Here you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding area, you should not miss it under any circumstances.

The Cockburn Channel is part of the Tierra del Fuego region at the very end of the South American Continent overlooking the Antarctic Ocean. It is connected to the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel.

The Magellan Strait is a strait with numerous islands and side channels which connects the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. It is located between the South American mainland and the island of Tierra del Fuego and has been a Chilean territory since 1881.

The Beagle Channel Passage is distinguished by its charm and nature. A variety of animalslive here and, with luck, you can see dolphins, whales, elephant seals, sea lions and penguins. In addition, breathtaking glaciers ensures you will leave the Passage with unforgettable memories.

Punta Arenas, located on the southern most tip of Patagonia, is the southernmost major city in the world. The cultural of the city is mixed and culturally colourful due to the influence of Portuguese settlers as well as English animal breeders who have lived in the area. With it’s proximity to Antarctica, Punta Arenas is often used a base for excursions to see the surrounding wilderness and landscapes.
