The island of Bequia, which lies in the Caribbean Sea, is part of the State of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. About 5,000 people live on the island and the official language is English. The name of the island, which translates as 'Island of Clouds', comes from the language of the Arawak, the indigenous people of Bequia. Port Elizabeth is the capital of the island and, with its large marina, is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. Many cruises start around the Grenadines. For those looking for more idyllic and calm beaches, take a trip to Friendship Bay on the opposite side of the island.

Fort de France is the capital of Martinique and one of the largest cities of the island. Fort de France offers many attractions, the famous Museum of banana plantations and the Habitation Limbé tell a lot about the history of the city and the island. Gustavia is the capital of the French island of St. Barthelemy. Gustavia is a reminder of the past when the island of St. Barthelemy was leased to the Swedish, named after Swedish King Gustav and having characteristic red-roofed houses lining the tropical hills. There is plenty of oppurtunities to discover the history and culture of the island at the Wall House Museum or even just a trip to the lively Le Ti-Marché open-air market. One of the many quiet cafes give you a perfect place to enjoy the stunning views out into harbour.

The city boasts Creole architecture from the eighteenth century, and its Old Market, which vendors now flock to to sell their handicrafts and produce, is a former site for slave auctions.
