Newcastle-upon-Tyne is a city in the north east of England. It lies on the banks of the River Tyne and is home to Newcastle University. The history of the city goes back to the time of the Roman conquest of Britain. A Roman fortress used to be located here in the place of the current city. Newcastle is famous for its coal production. Ijmuiden is a town of 30,000 inhabitants in northern Holland at the southern entrance of the North Sea Canal and is the ideal starting point for a trip to Amsterdam.
